Josh is a Cinematographer & Underwater Specialist based in Toronto & Vancouver & works worldwide.


Josh is a multi-faceted filmmaker originally from Winnipeg, working in documentaries, feature films, television and artworks. 

His work has premiered at IFF Rotterdam, TIFF, Hot Docs, Sydney Underground Film Festival and Moscow International Film Festival.

Josh is known for his experimental work as a DOP, using in-camera and analog effects, trick lighting and photography; all prominently featured on Mike Marynuik's The Goose, Andrew Shapter's Teller and the Truth and Ryan McKenna's Controversies exhibited at MOMA (New York). New work includes episodes of Apple TV’s Jane, Jefferson Moneo’s Cosmic Dawn and Aaron Zegher’s Possible Worlds, now in post production.

He has created advocacy and communications films for not-for-profits including War Child campaigns and gala fundraisers; and has created video learning platforms that teach environmental awareness curriculums for Wildsight used in schools across British Columbia. 

Josh started his film career in 2006 as a PA, lamp-op and a film-loader. He worked his way up in the camera department starting as a trainee, and has experience in every role in the dept over the last 17 years. Josh has worked as a technical director, spearheading research and development for long format adventure documentary and has worked throughout his career in all weather and geographic conditions from deserts of India and Iraq to the extreme norths of Canada.

He is a longstanding member of the Winnipeg Film Group, IATSE union 669 and specializes in underwater photography and analog film development and printing. He is a former board member and instructor at Cineworks, Vancouver and taught analog film techniques at Capilano University for many years.
